The Senior Citizen Supper Club is a FREE nutrition program sponsored by God's Kitchen - Battle Creek. Our mission is to partner with individuals, families, churches, corporations, foundations and other nonprofit organizations to feed low-income/elderly residents at Bedford Manor. Hot and nutritious dinners are served from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays at the senior apartment complex. All meals are prepared by our soup kitchen then transported to Bedford Manor where volunteers serve meals to all 125 residents. Dinners are also delivered to shut-ins who are unable to leave their apartments to fellowship in the building's dining room.
This Pilot Program was create due to budget cuts to the Battle Creek/Calhoun County Meals on Wheels program. The high volume of requests for home delivered senior meals, coupled with a reduction in property tax collection in the county, has resulted in a decrease in revenue for the Calhoun County Senior Millage (agency sponsor). As a consequence, meal service has been cut from 5 to 3 days a week. God's Kitchen - Battle Creek, the Cereal City's first and only soup kitchen, has pledged to partner with Bedford Manor so that no senior will go to bed hungry.
How can you help?
